Many of us end up paying so much money for fuel like petrol and diesel for our vehicle. Considering all these, it is advised that you go in for Car insurance and also make sure you are getting a good deal on your policy by having the correct car insurance information.Car Insurance and Motor Insurance premiums

Well we knew our car insurance premium were always on the up but the results of the latest AA British Insurance Premium Index reveal that rates have actually reached an all time high. In the final quarter of the year the average car insurance premium for an annual comprehensive car insurance policy increased by a whopping 7.2% on the previous quarter. In real terms this meant that the average premium is now priced at around £1,000.00 per year.
On an annual basis the percentage increase was 18.7% for comprehensive insurance. This is the largest increase in this area of business since the records first began back in 1994. Meanwhile the average premium for third party fire and theft increased in the same period by 8.9% to £1,252.00. Annually third party fire and theft rose by 23.8%.
The increases have come as auto insurers have desperately struggled to make up for a lack of reserves which have slowly been exhausted during the economic downturn.
Other factors such as steep rises in settlement costs and an increase in the frequency of personal injury claims can also be attributed to the sociological effects of the recession and are also driving the premiums sky high. The report has been released at a time that most composite insurers are either actively increasing rates or at least discussing it, but the strategies are varied and diverse.
Meanwhile both Allianz and Axa indicated prior to Zurich’s move that they will be taking some form of corrective action also. Gareth McChesney, head of pricing and reporting at Allianz Retail, said: “We applied some strength to our ratings in 2009. It seems others in the market are realising the severity of the situation – just six months later than we did.” “In Q4 last year, the market started to correct itself and in 2010 I would expect to see that continue, certainly for the first half of the year. Zurich has put forward a hefty increase in a single month while the market is adopting slightly smaller increases, say 3-3.5%, every month to come up to an acceptable rating level,” he added. Inevitable yes? Necessary pretty much? Helpful as we come out of recession? I let you answer that! From the pen of Insurance Blogger Kris Oldland.

MOUNT GRETNA, Pa. — A Greyhound bus bound for St. Louis from New York City flipped on its side on the Pennsylvania Turnpike early today, briefly trapping a woman and injuring about two dozen people, authorities said.
Twenty to 25 injuries were reported, turnpike spokesman Carl DeFebo said, and rescue crews freed the woman who was trapped in the wreckage in a rural area about a mile east of the Lebanon-Lancaster exit.
The westbound bus had stopped in Philadelphia and was to stop again in Pittsburgh when it overturned about 6 a.m., DeFebo said.
Both westbound lanes of the turnpike were closed, forcing drivers off the interstate at the Reading exit to be rerouted to the Harrisburg East exit. Traffic was backed up for about three miles by the time vehicles were allowed to pass through on the shoulder of the highway around 8:30 a.m., while crews worked to upright the bus, DeFebo said.
At Lancaster General Hospital, one of three hospitals where DeFebo said victims were sent, staff were evaluating five patients, said nursing supervisor Jan Frailey. No one could be reached at Greyhound's corporate office in Dallas early this morning. The crash is the latest in a series of tour bus accidents in the Northeast this year, though most of those involved smaller operators.
More than 30 people have been killed and more than 300 injured in tour bus accidents this year, according to Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety. That's more than in all of last year, when there 30 killed and 272 injured in 28 crashes.
Tour bus industry safety has drawn heightened attention since the March crash of a bus returning to New York City's Chinatown after an overnight excursion to a Connecticut casino. Fifteen people were killed when the bus flipped onto its side and struck a pole, peeling off its roof.
(Newser) – The comic know around the world as nerdy Mr. Bean is recovering in a British hospital after crashing his McLaren F1 supercar and striking a tree and lamppost before the vehicle burst into flames. Rowan Atkinson is "lucky to be alive considering the state of the car," said a witness. The actor suffered only a minor shoulder injury in the wreck some 85 miles north of London, reports AP. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, but some media reported that Atkinson spun out on a portion of rain-slicked highway.
Atkinson also crashed the car in 1999, rear-ending a Land Rover. He bought the sports car, which can reach speeds of 230 mph, to celebrate the success of Mr. Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie. It's only one of 65 street versions ever made and is valued at more than $2 million, reports the Mirror. While his character Mr. Bean putts along in a Mini-Cooper, Atkinson is a fan of luxury sports cars, and has also owned Aston Martins, Mercedes, and Rolls Royces. Those are only some incidents happened in car driven accident. So be sure to have your car Insurance quote likewise with Life Insurance is first priority in your list now. Applying insurance online is now more demand and more convenient.
If you are looking for a car insurance policy then your first step will be to gather quotes. Gathering quotes will allow you to conduct a comparison based on the coverage that you are offered, the provider, and the price. If you want to save money on your next policy then there may be certain things you can do. Here are some tips, therefore, on how to get a cheap auto insurance quote.
The price of your policy is determined by your risk. If you are considered to be a risky driver, therefore, it will be more difficult for you to find affordable quotes. Your risk will be determined by such things as your vehicle, your age, your driving record, your gender, and many others.
In order to reduce the price of any quotes that you generate, try to reduce your perceived risk. One way of doing this would be by making sure you buy the right vehicle. Vehicles that are high risk will always lead to higher rates of insurance. You should be able to find out which sorts of vehicles will be cheaper to insure by getting in touch with some providers and conducting your own research.Of course, it is not possible for you to change your age, but if you are young driver you can reduce your perceived risk associated with your age by demonstrating your responsibility. You can do this by maintaining good grades at school or by signing up to a safety driving course. This will help insurance companies to realise that you are more responsible than your peers which will, in turn, reduce your premiums.
Your driving record is going to play a significant role as well. By maintaining a good driving record you will maintain cheaper rates of insurance. Needless to say, therefore, your focus should be on driving carefully insensibly and always within the law. At the same time, try to maintain a more favourable credit rating as well. Showing irresponsible financial management will also have a negative impact upon your premiums.
Take time to look into discounts that you could qualify for as well. If you are young driver then you may be able to get a student discount. If you consolidate your insurance requirements then a multi-policy discount may be an option. You may have to get a discount for installing safety and antitheft devices into your vehicle. Take advantage of these discounts and you will find that your insurance quote is reduced.
But, you will not want to be driving home and get stopped by a policeman who ask for your license and proof of insurance. If you can't provide either (or both), you will likely need to stand in front of a judge and prove that you had both at the time the policeman stopped you, and that will be difficult if you didn't bother to get it insured beforehand.
We recommend you get as many quotes as you can to make sure you get the right insurance for your circumstances.
Car insurance, much like navel fluff, is dull but unavoidable. Don't be a 'blithering idiot', don't leave home without it. Plod will not look favourably upon you if you do.
What will happen if your vehicle doesn't have insurance
From the end of June 2011 Insurance Advisory Letters (IAL) will be issued by the Motor Insurers' Bureau to the registered keepers of uninsured vehicles. This will be following a check of the Motor Insurance Database (MID) - the UK's central record of vehicle insurance. The IAL will advise the registered keeper that their vehicle appears to have no insurance and what actions to take to avoid receiving a fixed penalty from DVLA.
If a vehicle does not have insurance, the registered keeper could:
receive a fixed penalty of £100
have their vehicle wheel-clamped, impounded, or destroyed
face a court prosecution, with a possible maximum fine of £1000
Payment of a penalty does not replace the need for motor insurance.
Third Party:
This is the most basic insurance type, and is the minimum coverage that allows you to drive legally. Any damage you do to a ‘third party’, ie someone or something that is NOT YOU or YOUR CAR is covered, but for a pittance extra you can get Third Party Fire and Theft (see below). All other policies retain this Third Party component as their basis.
Third Party Fire and Theft:
Third Party Fire and Theft (TPFT) is the basic insurance package favoured by younger learner drivers on their first or second provisional licence, and people who prefer not to pay for fully comprehensive insurance. You are – obviously – insured for ‘Fire’ and ‘Theft’, ie if your car ‘catches’ fire or is stolen. Third Party means that your passengers are covered, and any people, property or cars that you might hit are also covered. Your car is NOT covered. Either are YOU. TPFT is the cheapest way of building up your No Claims Bonus before changing over to the significantly more expensive ‘fully comprehensive’.
Fully Comprehensive Insurance:
This is the ultimate in insurance, adding you and your car to the TPFT package. Thus Fully Comprehensive Insurance (FCI), or "full comp" is also more expensive. Having a full driving licence (and having it for more than two years) helps keep premiums down.
Why is Car Insurance for New Drivers so expensive?
Insurance companies know that new drivers are a bigger insurance risk than any other motoring group and here are the facts to prove it:-
As a new driver, you are more likely to have an accident in the first year after passing your test than at any other time in your motoring career.
Per mile of driving, the risk of an accident involving injury or death is about seven times greater for 17-20 years old than for those aged 40 or over.
Drivers under 21 are involved in 15% of all accident deaths.
New drivers make up just 10% of licence holders, but are involved in 29% of accidents.
Because of these factors insurance premiums are very high for the new driver. However there are ways to cut your insurance premium
Follow these TEN tips to reduce your premium. by
TIP ONE
Young and newly qualified drivers can boost their no-claims bonus by taking an additional test called2passPass Plus. Some companies will credit people who have passed Pass Plus with an extra year's no claims bonus. Companies who offer a discount for Pass Plus include Admiral, AGF, Churchill, Co-operative, Direct Line, Eagle Star, Ecclesiastical, General Accident, Guardian, Highway Motor Policies at Lloyd's, Norwich Union, Pearl, Privilege and Royal SunAlliance. Always check to see if your own insurance offers a Pass Plus discount.
Example Case
Ray age 18, passed his test six months ago and wants to buy his first car. His age and lack of experience are likely to go against him when he's looking for insurance.
To help bring the costs down, Ray could take his Pass Plus exam. Although this would cost him around £100, he could easily save more than that on his first year's insurance alone.
How much could Ray save? It would normally cost Ray £1700 for fully comprehensive cover on his 1992 Ford Escort 1.4 LX. By taking the Pass Plus test, Ray could reduce this to £1500, a saving of £200.
TIP TWO
Drivers who don't have full no-claims bonus can build their bonus up quicker with a policy from some companies called Bonus Accelerator. This policy runs for 10 months rather than the usual 12. At the end of those 10 months, provided no "fault" claims have been made, you get a full year's no claims bonus. So, somebody starting out with zero no-claims can build up to the maximum five years no-claims bonus in just four years.
Be Careful if you choose this scheme You usually have to stay with the same insurance company throughout, in order to build up your maximum no-claims bonus. Companies don't usually allow you to carry a 10 months policy over from one company to another, so please check before you sign up for this type of scheme.
TIP THREE
Buy a smaller-engined car.
If insuring your prospective car is proving too expensive, consider buying a car with a smaller engine. Remember that buying a cheaper car will not make a huge difference to your premiums.
If you or your spouse buy a second car, you may be able to get an introductory bonus on the new car. This means that your insurer may give you the same no-claims bonus on the second car as you have on the first, provided you insure both cars with the same company. It is best to check this with your insurer first because not all companies offer this facility, and the conditions for introductory bonus vary between companies.
crash
TIP FOUR
Taking a higher Voluntary excess ( The amount of money you have to pay the insurance company if you have to make a claim) than the standard £100 could give you a substantial discount on their premium.
TIP FIVE
Declare your mileage! Telling your insurer how many miles you do, especially if it is below average, they do in a year, and simply let the salesperson plug in an average of, say, 12,000 miles. That's 230 miles a week. If you do less than that, you could be missing out on potential savings by not letting your insurer know.
TIP SIX

Compare Car Insurance

Similarly, if you don't use your car to travel to work, let your insurer know. You may be paying for cover you don't need.
TIP SEVEN
If you have access to a garage or driveway at night, use them. Using off street parking, rather than leaving your car on the street will attract a discount with most insurers.
TIP EIGHT
Insurers prefer prevention rather than claims, so vehicles fitted with an engine immobiliser or alarm may qualify for a discount. The devices which qualify for a discount vary from insurer to insurer, so make sure you check before getting any device fitted.
TIP NINE
If your a man consider becoming a woman:-)
Women can often get cheaper car insurance than their male counterparts.
Why is this?, especially when guys often moan about ‘women’ drivers. The answer is that statistically speaking women are seen as better drivers. Although male drivers often find this hard to believe, the facts are derived from the collection of claims data over several years - decades in fact by car insurance companies.
However, despite the fact that women are statistically seen as better drivers, they generally have the same number of accidents as men. It is the severity of the accident that is very different between the sexes. Typically an insurance company has to pay out a lot more to fix a car when a man has had an accident - the car has to be extensively repaired or even written off. Women’s accidents tend to require less repair because their accidents are often caused by bumping into somebody, reversing into the garage - that type of thing.
TIP TEN

Effects Of Insurance
- Determine the type of insurance coverage desired. Overall production, but you need to take into account the economic side.
- Do not be fixated on the sized of the premium to be paid. See the company's credibility, especially in terms of services, claims handling and financial capacity.
- Many insurance companies are credible and bona-fide, thought without the support of re-insurance companies. But there's no harm in finding out the track record of re-insurance company(if any).
- Does the company provide additional benefits, such as 24-hours claims service, free towing most of all online services.
- It is better you see the company's partner shop network. How much, where it is located and how the quality of the workshops.
- Understand exactly anything what your rights and obligations. What should you do and what should not. Are there any exceptions in the policy contract, what are the pros and cons covered?
Why Is Auto Insurance Important?
There are lots of companies that offer auto insurance and you'll need to research which is the best option for your specific needs. Auto insurance has many different types of policies and coverage so you need to make sure when you buy your car insurance that the policy makes sense for you. One thing you want to make sure of is that the monthly premium will fit into your budget and also that you're getting the right amount of coverage for your vehicle. Don't get to much coverage but also don't get too little coverage, there is a very fine line between the two and you'll need to determine which is suitable for your vehicles.

Typically if you get into a car accident and you're at fault then you need to put the claim through your insurance. This will mean that your insurance company will pay the damages to the vehicles and also any medical expenses that anyone faces, if any. Without car insurance it makes you liable for the damages and medical bills and this is where it gets very serious. You can be sent to jail for injuring someone in an accident without any insurance and you will most definitely be sued by the family. This will often result in you losing everything you own.
Car insurance isn't a joking matter and is one of the most important insurance policies you need. It's also one of the insurance policies that are mandatory to have while driving. Having car insurance is also necessary to have in case somebody hits your vehicle. If someone hits your vehicle and you don't have insurance then they won't be liable for paying any damages to you.
As you can tell having car insurance benefits you in a lot of ways and also gives you a feeling of safeness while out on the road. It's always better to drive focused and not sub-cautiously have to be thinking about the fact you're driving without insurance. Car insurance can be bought for very affordable monthly premiums and offer great coverage, you just need to do a bit research beforehand so that you can find the best deal. There ms highly competitive competition in this industry and there are many companies fighting for your business. Decide on a budget savvy auto insurance policy and I guarantee you'll be saved a lot of hassles and unnecessary fines. You'll also be ensured that you won't be financially accountable for any damages to people or vehicles as your insurance will cover you. By: Brenda Williams
Tips on how to pay less for car insurance in Canada:
Let's face the reality, car insurance in Canada is the most expensive insurance in the world and there are several reasons why it might be but it doesn't have to be that way. The following will give you some tips on how you can pay less for your car insurance premiums.Higher Deductible = Lower Premiums
One of the easiest ways to save money on car insurance is to have a higher deductible. If you don't know what "deductible" means, in a nutshell, it's the amount of money you are willing to pay, to your insurance supplier, if you get into an accident to cover for your part of the damages. As an example, let's say you get into an accident and the damages are evaluated at $3000.00, if you have a deductible of $250, you will pay the Insurance company that amount and they will pay $2750.00 to the body shop to have your car fixed. It might be tempting to go for a lower deductible but the truth is the lower the deductible the higher your premiums will be. The common deductible for the average person is $250 but if you can increase your deductible to $500 or even to $1000 you will save a lot. To have an exact idea of how much less you would pay, always call your insurance agent as there is no Online solution that can provide an accurate estimate.
Drive Safely - Another way to save on car insurance is to have a clean driver record. The main reason why young drivers pay more for auto insurance is because they are not experienced therefore represent a higher risk to have an accident than older experienced driver. In addition, the gender will influence how much you will pay for car insurance in Canada, actually it's also the same case in the U.S.A. Young women will pay less than young men because, statistically young women drive more safely than young men. It goes without saying that if you drive carelessly and get speeding tickets one after another or get into accidents your insurance premiums will sky rocket, whether you are a man or a woman. In some cases, insurers might refuse to insure you because of that.
Sport car VS Regular - Another tip on how you will save on car insurance cost is whether you will drive a sport car or a regular car. Bigger engines means faster cars which translate to higher risk of having speeding tickets and accidents. If you are tempted to go for that sporty new car you might want to call your insurer first and see how much more it will cost you. Especially if your driver record is not clean you're in for a "bad" surprise. Just to be clear, driving a Sport car doesn't necessarily mean driving a Ferrari it means that most regular cars has a sport version so be advised of that when buying or leasing a new or used car.
Cheap or Luxurious Cars - The total value of your vehicle will also determine the price of your car insurance premium. For example: if you purchase a $50,000 car you will pay more for insurance than a $25,000 car. If you wonder why this might be, the reason is simple; In case of an accident, it will cost more for replacement parts to your insurance supplier if you own the $50k car than the $25K car. In a nutshell, do your due diligence and call for a quote to your insurance agent before committing, the difference in pricing might in thousand's of dollars per year so be careful.
To conclude, Car Insurance in Canada is mandatory whether you own a business or as an individual. As we saw in the above article: gender, age, price and type of vehicle will influence the cost of car insurance. Also, the deductible amount will greatly change the price whether you choose a higher or a lower deductible. Car Insurance might be confusing but it doesn't have to be, always consult with your insurance agent, to get a clear picture of your options.
