SELF IMPROVEMENT

Sometimes there's nothing better than a big fat family dinner. Nobody ever gets along, all the boys in the family are running around and crashing into each other (and it seems, always end up grovelling on the floor) and one of the kids is always yelling "Mooooommmmm!" from 3 rooms away.

In a wink, the dogs can trip someone holding a pot of boiling water as the boys come rolling through like a tumbleweed, making the one with the boiling pot stumble, who to avoid falling, slams the pot down on the counter where the only space available is on top of the plate of perfectly molded heart butter molds little Ava spent all day making. Consequently setting off a line of one catastrophe after another until all the food is on the floor (and smeared on half of us), the kids are crying, and the dogs are enthusiastically licking up the yummy food around us and off the counter tops.

Somehow it all works out in the end and we all sit down as a family. Sometimes the table is too small, sometimes the chairs are too small, sometimes all our china and silver don't match, but we are all there surrounding steaming hot home cooked food. Our cheeks get rosy and our bellies get full as stories get told and updates are heard. The boys usually make fun of the girls because they like getting a rise out of us and then are sorry and sad when they push too far.

I honestly think there's nothing better than a giant farm table filled with family.
