DJLMG organization was founded in November 1936, when James H. Ottaway Sr. bought Bulletin, a semi-weekly newspaper in Endicott, NY Within a year he turned it into a daily in 1944 and began buying other publications, starting in the northeast and eventually over the country.

In 1970, Ottaway merged with Dow Jones and now, as DJLMG works printed and online community media franchises in seven countries, including daily, Sunday and weekly newspapers, websites, magazines and other news niche publications and advertising.
