Well, its official. Turquoise is the color of the year for 2010! For you fabulous readers that don't know what Pantone is, it's the world-renowned authority on color. From Pantone's own website,

"In 1963, Lawrence Herbert, Pantone's founder, created an innovative system for identifying, matching and communicating colors to solve the problems associated with producing accurate color matches in the graphic arts community. His insight that the spectrum is seen and interpreted differently by each individual led to the innovation of the PANTONE® MATCHING SYSTEM®, a book of standardized color in fan format."

Basically, everyone on earth (and some on Mars, too!) see colors differently. It's like the age old debate about tennis balls - some people see them as yellow, and others are adamant they are green. Pantone serves as the base for everything color. They are such an extraordinary tool for anyone in the design or visual arts and business worlds.

So, boring stuff aside, Pantone has officially announced that Pantone color 15-5519 Turquoise is the color of the year. Read their entire press release about the color of the year here.

As the year goes on, it'll be fun to notice where it starts popping up. Check out Fashion Week and the upcoming seasons in home furnishings. I bet a Mid-Century Modern Caribbean flair will find it's way into interior design this summer.
